- Was raised by his grandfather, but both of his parents are alive. He’s just never had a chance to meet them unfortunately.

- Gramps was a good influence, encouraging the wild child of Jeremiah Burton Junior to be a caring and strong person, even if he did cause some trouble here and there.

- Around the age of seven, Jerry meets his best friend for life, and younger classmen, Lucas Courtwater. Despite how shy and quiet the kid was, Jerry eagerly dragged him along to start dragging Lucas out of his shell.

- Five years of friendship unfortunately ends when Jerry’s grandfather gets sick and becomes too weak to properly care for Jerry. Jerry is forced to move away to live with his uncle.

- Unlike his gramps, Uncle Jared wasn’t that nice or kind to Jerry. Jared turns out to be quite harsh towards Jerry, often blaming him for everything that was wrong in Jared’s personal downward spiral in life in general. Most of the abuse stayed mental and emotional, Jared not one to really throw punches, but it took it’s toll on Jerry.

- After the awakening of his dream walker abilities, sleeping became addicting to the struggling boy. It was the only way he could stay in proper contact with Lucas, and the dreams were far more enjoyable than his life at the time being. As soon as the sun was setting, Jerry was trying to sleep, no matter how early it was. Naps, day dreaming, anything to escape a lonely suffering. As he got older, he even started to sneak sleep inducing medication from his uncle to get his ‘fix’ so to speak.

- This growing desire to fall asleep and just never wake up ate at Jerry, turning him into a more bitter and cold person in his waking hours while being his typically happy-go-lucky self when fast asleep. It left him vulnerable, and it didn’t take too long for his Neverland of a dream world to be taken from him by a Shade. Although, it wasn’t just a Shade that acted as the final nail in Jerry’s “coffin” so to speak.

- In his last waking hours, Jerry can vaguely recall the argument with his uncle. His uncle calling him worthless, trash, a waste of space and Jerry lashed out with a punch at his uncle’s face. It goes blank then, but he remembers a sharp pain on the left side of his face. Right, he lost his eye and went to the hospital at that point. He hadn’t woken up since, so in a way, he finally got what he wanted. A never ending sleep, right?

- Not exactly as Jerry’s Neverland of a dream world slowly shattered all around him as his comatose state settled in. It felt like centuries were passing by of just watching his world shatter and he changed at that point. Leaving his world to never return the same again, Jerry became a Shade himself and he was quite the nasty one. Taking out years of pent up frustration by toying with others, he liked to play with them. He liked the idea of wrapping people around his fingers to tear them down. He knew people, he was great at understanding them, figuring out the kinds of things they wanted to hear, how they’d react to things, and he used that to bring them to his level. In his various years, Jerry has created a number of Shades.

- But redemption is available even to this lost soul through the help of a friend he has nearly forgotten, Lucas Courtwater.
