[attr="class","ur_appsubtitle"]CHARACTER HISTORY & MODUS OPERANDI
[attr="class","ur_appcont"]
There is no Act One. Just a simple, lonely girl that fit in in life a little too much.
[break][break]
(What's another child lost to the cracks?)
[break][break]
The dreams are different. The dreams are real, and good, and everything that is right in the world but with none of the darkness, the shadows. The Dreamworld is a realm untouched by Humanity's sins.
[break][break]
Her waking world is plain, normal, with demons lurking underneath the surface, showing their faces in news reports and newspapers, another murder in Kabato District, train crash from Kamikawa to Atsuta, a building collapses in Tokyo --
[break][break]
Her dreaming world is a sea-side, like the one that she and kaa-chan and obaa-chan and otouto had visited so long ago, with the endless blue sky stretching from horizon to horizon and the sands as far as the eye can see.
[break][break]
There is a traffic accident, when she is sixteen. A switch in the train system refusing to flip, the train going too fast to make a safe turn --
[break][break]
...it's her younger brother's body that they pull out of the wreckage.
[break][break]
She loses faith in the world. The sea looks so tempting, with its crystal-clear waters, waves coming and going on the shore, the white sands glittering like stardust under the sunlight --
[break][break]
She doesn't wake up.
[break][break]
She's never been noticed, in the waking world, but she's never felt quite right, either. It's a moment of introspection in her crumbling dreamworld and the outstretched hand of an offer, silent, you don't have to take it but the pain will stop if you do, that she realizes:
[break][break]
She is a they.
[break][break]
The worlds fall apart, and the sea collides into the sky.
[break][break]
They don't mind what they've become.
[break][break]
(The waking world had been too full of death and despair, anyway.)
[break][break]
They turn quite a few people themselves, after, to the Shades. They remember all of them -- every single one, each one painstakingly befriended, listened to, conversed with. They make friends out of all of them, first, gets to know them, and the ones that they choose to Turn are few and far between.
[break][break]
(They make sure to take only the ones that won't be missed, when they're gone.)
[break][break]
Act VIII.
They're not doing it because corrupting is fun. They're doing it to save people, because the Dreamworld is better than the real world.
[break][break]
...
[break][break]
...right?
